How will GPI determine the best Power Quality solution for me?
GPI will send a technician to your facility to read each of your utility transformers. By examining up to 18 different parameters we will be able to identify problematic losses within the facility. After studying the power factor of the transformers, the total harmonic distortion of the current as well as the voltage sags and inrush of the current, GPI can analyze the reactive current in the system to determine how much reactive power it will take to get the distribution transformer to unity.

How long does the initial Power Quality evaluation take?
As each utility transformer will take approximately one hour to meter, the process will depend on the number of distribution transformers in each facility.

How do you determine how much each project will cost?
After evaluating the technical data, we can illustrate where the losses are occurring in your building and the technology required to rectify the situation. Once a remedy is determined, we can price out the work and estimate how much savings and possible payback we believe we can achieve. We also use this engineering data to determine approximately how much the project will cost.

How do you inventory the consumption of electricity?
We collect name plate data from the equipment loads and, on equipment loads of three horsepower or higher, measure voltage, current, KVAR, power factor, KW and the total harmonic distortion of current (up to the 63rd harmonic). We also gather all information on lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration. And because we meter each individual equipment load (three horsepower and higher), you will achieve greater savings.

Other energy savings companies advertise similar savings. Why should I choose Granfel Power instead?

We know from experience that reducing the reactive and harmonic current drawn through a building’s electrical distribution system will translate into KW and KWH savings for our customers. Our competition understands this too, but the standard engineering calculations for these savings do not hold up to the realities encountered within actual operational commercial and industrial facilities. Applying traditional power efficiency calculations that are in line with normal engineering thinking would be woefully inaccurate in practice. Although switching to higher efficiency HID’S or installing variable frequency drives (VFDs) is standard engineering practice, it will not achieve the most beneficial results – whereas GPI’s technology can.
